Bitcoin Address Checker

Paste a Bitcoin address to screen it against the OFAC sanctions list and known-bad datasets, and see its on-chain history, balance, transaction count and age. Bitcoin has no approvals to revoke; this is risk screening, not proof of safety.

(the Bitcoin genesis address: runs a live check)

Public address only. No wallet connection, nothing to sign, this reads public sanctions lists and on-chain data.

What this checker looks for

OFAC sanctions list

Screens the address against the U.S. Treasury's published list of sanctioned Bitcoin addresses.

On-chain history

Balance, transaction count and address age, read from the public Bitcoin blockchain via mempool.space.

New / unused addresses

A brand-new address with no transaction history is flagged, not dangerous, just unproven.

High-activity addresses

Very high transaction counts often mean an exchange or service address rather than a personal wallet.

How to read the result: Critical means the address is on the OFAC sanctions list, do not transact. Caution means screening couldn't run (the sanctions list was unreachable), treat with extra care. No match means it wasn't found on the lists we checked, never a guarantee, so keep using your own judgement.

Bitcoin has no token approvals to revoke, unlike Ethereum and other smart-contract chains, there is nothing to grant or take back. This tool only screens the address against sanctions and known-bad lists and profiles its public on-chain history. Absence of a match is not proof of safety.

FAQ

Does Bitcoin have token approvals like Ethereum?

No: Bitcoin has no smart-contract approval mechanism, so there's nothing to grant or revoke. This tool instead screens the address against the OFAC sanctions list and known-bad datasets, and profiles its on-chain history.

Does a clean result mean it's safe?

No. Clean only means the address isn't on the sanctions/known-bad lists we checked, new bad addresses appear constantly, and many risky ones are never listed. Absence of a match is not proof of safety.

Is checking a Bitcoin address safe?

Yes: it reads a public address only. No wallet connection, no private key, nothing to sign.
